## About Coach Emily

### Emily Petersen

Emily has lived with Type 1 Diabetes since September 2020 at 23 years old. She earned a bachelor's degree in Public Health and is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach in the diabetes space.

Faced with limited support from her healthcare team at the time of her diagnosis and beyond, she delved into diabetes education resources to learn how to manage her new condition while maintaining the lifestyle she loved. She assembled a new care team with healthcare professionals who provided better support. Nevertheless, despite guidance from top experts, she sensed a persistent gap in the system where support was inadequate.

Empowered by her own learning and through her coaching certification, she found that she could be a part of the supplementary support she identified as missing in the healthcare system. 

Although it may take some extra planning, preparation, and supplies, Emily holds on to the truth that anyone with type 1 diabetes can achieve everything that those without T1D are able to achieve, *except produce insulin*. 

Emily enjoys paragliding, camping, traveling, reading, cooking, baking, exercising, and experiencing new things. 

Everything But Insulin was founded to support other type 1's to be able to live a healthy and enjoyable life not burdened by diabetes.
